Sailing ship de Vrijhied

Sailing the Waddensea or the IJsselmeer on clipper Vrijheid is a real sensation. Sailing right before the wind is one of the most enjoyable ways to move across the water. Sailing ship Vrijheid can be hired for events such as day trips, sailing trips for several days, company outings and family weekends. We are also more than happy to hoist the sails for popular festivals such as Oerol, Sail Amsterdam, the Vlootdagen (navy open days) Den Helder or the Round Texel race!

History sailing ship Vrijheid

The two masted clipper Vrijheid was built in 1889 as a sailing freighter. For many years, it transported beer in the southern Netherlands. Later on, clipper Vrijheid was converted to a comfortable charter boat. These days, clipper Vrijheid is a comfortable sailing ship with seven two-berth cabins. The cosy saloon is the right environment for enjoyable evenings and the deck is equipped with a cockpit.

Standing clear of the water, mudflat hiking and sailing by night!

Besides being an enthusiastic sailor, skipper Thomas Terpstra is also a licensed mudflat guide. He is pleased to share the magic of the mudflats in all its facets such as standing clear of the water at low tide, mudflat hiking and even sailing by night. Other possibilities include a nature trip to the Oostwad or exploring the Waddensea during the winter months. Aboard the Vrijheid you’ll be one with nature in the most beautiful scenic areas in the Netherlands.
